Been a week, had some steak and whiskey tonite. It helped. The mint was even from our garden plot. Thumbs up to local drinking.
Not helping is having not heard back from Trek confirming my info to submit to insurance. Not a good way to convince me to replace what was taken with a similar bike.
Last Friday I ended the week with a beer and 5 Templetons at Pippins after work. It made for a good start to the holiday weekend. Won't be surprised if tomorrow ends in similar fashion.

Whiskey Wednsday
Turned into hung-over Thanksgiving. It took a beer and three whiskeys to put up with having my mom stay with us last night, and that put me in great shape today to deal with prepping the disgusting turkey. Fucking fantastic.
That is fucking gross, even though eventually it looks like this.
And the dog always enjoys her thanksgiving, especially when she ends up cleaning the plate of who-ever is paying the least attention.
I think that's strawberry topping from a cheesecake, although it could be cranberry sauce too. Ah, the holidays.

There's gotta be someone up there...
Miracle of miracles, my first trip to the Foremost liquors on Kedzie yielded a new bottle of Templetons!
Well, not a new bottle as it's still the fourth batch, but still, that's six months after everyone else was telling me they were gone in Lincoln Park and Old Town. Hahahahahahahahahahaha!
Better yet, they had two but the wife drew the line at one. Who knows, if I go back there in a month it might even still be there. The store's in a shady enough part of the neighborhood that it might be pretty untraveled outside of the cheap beers in the cooler. We'll see in a week or two.
For now I'm thrilled to have another bottle to drink, b/c I feel like this week is earning me a few drinks this weekend.
Current beer-scale: fucking high.

Wow. Just, wow.
Last week wasn't an easy one. Had a few drinks when I got home Friday night, had a few more after a long day in the suburbs on Saturday. Sunday was a fun day of football all day, followed by cracking open the Templeton's to get ready for Monday.
Holy Moses was that the finest drink I've ever had.
Buttery, spicy, warm, with a pleasant burn that kicks in after a long couple of seconds, if I hadn't already set the alarm for this morning I think I would have ended up drinking half the bottle in one sitting. It was a lot mellower than expected for something Prohibition-based, but I can see why they call it "the good stuff." I'm going to make sure I finish all the other whiskey in the house before I get to the rest of the Templeton's, and I might have to make another run to the liquor store that had a few left on the shelves to see if they're still there later this week. Good lord I hope they are.

Looking for a little four loko to class up new years yesterday, I decided to pick up a little something for myself as well. As it turns out there was no loko to be had, but that was probably for the best. At this point it will be at least a day until I feel up to making a drink anyways. Ouch.
